When Pageamonth went to ad support we never intended to run ads on our budget site for alternative funeral arrangements, teenybopper ringtones, body modifications, get rich quick schemes, or suggestive texts or images, yet they creep in like spam in email from time to time despite our efforts and all Google’s prim and proper computer power.  We don’t want offensive or irrelevant ads on our pages, but occasionally they slip by our constant review, and since Google rotates them in and out frequently trying to match a gazillion criteria to maximize our space, it’s hard to catch them all.  This  seems to be a price we pay for keeping our spreadsheets free and getting our word out to people so they can find us.

Google Adwords and Adsense are remarkable in their opportunities and results oveall, but they are not perfect by any means, and they can be quite frustrating despite their extensive attempts to clarify and assist their users.  I’m currently frustrated to be getting increased traffic yet a sudden stop of all revenue going into four days now, and no live contact –a problem shared by many users according to their forums.

The problem with the blessings of cyberspace is a lack of eye contact between real people, so when things go wrong you can’t see the other guy flinch, and after a time you begin to wonder if there is a human being out there behind it all or it’s just a huge, sophisticated, maddeningly polite but totally irrational machine running things.
